SUGGESTED WORKSHOP TOPICS:

  • How to Thrive in Middle School

FOR 6th GRADERS!  A fun, interactive, and informative discussion of the expectations, challenges and responsibilities associated with the significant transition from elementary to middle school. Students will learn tips on organization, time management and strengthening their relationships with peers, teachers and parents.

  • Back-to-School Tune-Up

This workshop is tailored to middle school and high school students who are interested in learning about effective study skills, organization and time management techniques to help them get their school year off to a positive start.

  • Study Strategies that Work

  • Do you sometimes study for hours and think you know the material only to get a much lower grade than expected?

  • Do read and reread material and feel like it’s just not sinking in?

  • Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed and have no idea where to begin to start to study for a test?

  • Do you put off studying too long and end up cramming the night before?

  • Do you feel like you lack motivation to keep up with your studies?

  • Do you ever feel like your brain locks up and you forget everything as soon as you sit down to take a test?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you are not alone! Many students share these frustrations and concerns. Unfortunately, most students never identify the fundamental issues causing these difficulties; instead attributing blame to laziness, lack of intelligence, bad teachers or too much stress. In this workshop you will discover HOW to study by learning HOW you think. Not just “study skills”, but how the teen brain encodes, processes and retrieves information. This information is a game-changer!

  • Critical Thinking and Evaluating Media

Learn about how our social and cognitive biases influence how we seek out, understand and evaluate information. Helpful tips for safely navigating social media, news and the internet for credible information, services and products.

  • Productivity

Feeling overwhelmed? Always busy, but never seem to make much progress? Learn how to be productive by focusing on your core values and goals. Once you learn how to prioritize your goals you can take specific steps to accomplish them. The focus of this workshop centers around the management of your most precious resources: your time, energy and attention.

  • Keeping Time

This workshop starts with the premise that we first need to develop a relationship with and understanding of time. The next step is to develop a customized time management system that works. Workshop covers how to get started, developing a system and strategies to enhance your thinking about time.
